The capital of
Russia is an impressive and fascinating city of wide boulevards, huge squares
and a mixture of old and new.
The most famous
site is the imposing Kremlin - the ancient fortress of the city and now the seat
of the President - which houses cathedrals, government buildings and museums,
against the backdrop of the Red Square and the onion domes of St.Basil's Cathedral.
A stroll through
the back streets will however, reveal delicate Orthodox churches and pretty courtyards.
Moscow's ornate
marble Metro is not only a practical way of getting around but a tourist attraction
in itself. Moscow remains the heart of Russia, and is an imposing city of bustling
activity.
